Local media have reported the drought is triggering fighting in rural areas. According to the O Globo newspaper an average of one person a day is being killed in “water wars” in rural areas, while scores of animals are wasting away before perishing.
In the state of Bahía 2,7 million people have been affected by the absence of rain. The drought is also affecting people in the states of Ceará and Río Grande do Norte. Local governments have been forced to contract water trucks to supply water to the worst-hit urban centers.

Matriarchy is the Future
Naxi Blue, Lijiang
The Naxi minority, based in the ancient town of Lijiang in the Yunnan province, number some 278,000. They are easily recognizable with their blue blouses and trousers covered by blue or black aprons.
Until recently, the Naxi lived in matriarchal families, though local rulers were always male. Their society still maintains the matriarchs’ hold over men with flexible arrangements for joint residence. Both partners would continue to live in their respective homes; the boyfriend would spend the nights at his girlfriend's house but return to live and work at his mother's house during the day. Any children born to the couple belonged to the woman, who was responsible for bringing them up. The father provided support, but once the relationship was over, so was the support. Children lived with their mothers; no special effort was made to recognize paternity. Women inherited all property, and female elders adjudicated any disputes.There are strong matriarchal influences in the Naxi language. Nouns enlarge their meaning when the word for ' female' is added; conversely, the addition of the word for' male' will decrease the meaning. For example, 'stone' plus ' female' conveys the idea of a boulder; 'stone' plus 'male' conveys the idea of a pebble.Viewing these laughing women, one can see the closeness in friendship, which have endured since childhood.

Feelings
There
are times that every person in this Movement feels despair. Feels
alone. Primarily that comes from feeling that you are not making a
difference. But you are. You ARE making a difference. Thousands upon
thousands of lives have been changed, altered, freed, lifted, given
life...all due to your efforts. You out there, you voices of the
voiceless, you may not always see the results, hear the results,
know the results first hand. But remember, the same voice that drives
you from within is the same voice that calls out to you from cages of
suffering and despair, and those voices are calling out because they
know you are there to hear them. They know you are here to free them.

We can also choose to be happy that so many amazing and wonderful people are alive and well today.
Me? I'm absolutely fine. No problems. Healthy. Fit. Happy.
